SAVANNAH – SCAD-Savannah women’s golfer Mercedes Khumnark was chosen as the 2020 valedictorian for the Savannah campus.
Khumnark transferred to SCAD in the fall of 2017 and played for the women’s golf team from 2017-2019. In her two seasons with the Bees, SCAD-Savannah women’s golf won the 2018 NAIA National Championship and finished 3rd in 2019. Mercedes will graduate with a 4.0 in Interactive Design and Game Development. She has accepted a position at Storm8 in San Francisco.
“I am tremendously honored to be representing SCAD-Savannah as Valedictorian for Class of 2020,” Khumnark said. “SCAD gives me the incredible opportunity to pursue both my artistic and athletic endeavors. Being an Artist-Athlete has helped me develop a strong work ethic mixed with my competitive nature established my drive for success.
“I am thankful for my professors, career advisors, coaches, and SCAD alumni who were great sources of mentorship to improve myself and my craft. I will always have a sense of gratitude about being enrolled at SCAD. I am thankful to SCAD for being a source of inspiration, opening the doors to new opportunities, and giving me a family I’ll never forget!”
