NEW ORLEANS – The Sun Belt Conference announced its Women’s Basketball Player of the Week on Monday.
Shondell Vickers, Georgia Southern

Vickers averaged 12.0 ppg, 12.0 rpg, 4.0 apg and 1.0 bpg as the Eagles split their conference-opening weekend at South Alabama. The sophomore forward scored 12 points and grabbed a season-high 15 rebounds on Friday against the Jaguars. Saturday, she followed up with 12 points and nine rebounds as the Eagles defeated South Alabama, 78-71, ending a six-game losing streak to the Jaguars. Vickers has scored in double figures in five straight contests and her 15 boards on Friday marked the fourth time this season she has recorded double digit rebounds.
This season, the 12 Sun Belt women’s basketball programs will be split into an East Division and a West Division to minimize travel amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Teams will play each other on back to back days (Fridays and Saturdays) at the same location.
All 12 teams will compete in the Sun Belt Conference Championship which will be held March 5-8, 2021 in Pensacola, Fla.
