NEW ORLEANS – The Sun Belt Conference announced its Women’s Basketball Player of the Week on Tuesday – Georgia Southern senior guard A’Tyanna Gaulden.
Gaulden led the Eagles to a 89-61 win over Western Carolina in the GSU Holiday Classic. The transfer from Arkansas hit 8-of-13 shots from the floor, including 3-of-4 three-pointers, en route to a 19 point game. Gaulden also registered four steals and four rebounds in the contest. Since joining the Eagles, the senior guard has scored in double figures in five of seven games and leads her team in scoring (12.6 ppg).
This season, the 12 Sun Belt women’s basketball programs will be split into an East Division and a West Division to minimize travel amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Teams will play each other on back to back days (Fridays and Saturdays) at the same location
All 12 teams will compete in the Sun Belt Conference Championship which will be held March 5-8, 2021 in Pensacola, Fla.
