BRUNSWICK – The College of Coastal Georgia Mariners (2-1) defeated the Brewton Parker Barons for the second time this season, 84-76.
The Mariners were more efficient on offense, resulting in their victory. The Mariners shot 55.6 percent from the field, 45.5 percent from behind the arc, and 82.4 percent at the foul line. The Barons shot 47.5 percent from the field, 45 percent from behind the arc, and 47.4 from the foul line. In addition, Coastal Georgia also recorded 25 points off of 21 turnovers, two-second chance points, and 15 bench points.
The Barons outrebounded the Mariners, recording 33 to their 22. Coastal Georgia had 20 defensive rebounds and two offensive while Brewton Parker tallied 10 offensive and 23 defensive. Coastal Georgia recorded more assists, steals, and blocks than their opponent.
The Mariners maintained a lead the majority of the game and only let the Barons tie the game, never take a lead. Coastal Georgia led by 13 at its highest at multiple points during the game.
In the first half, Coastal Georgia shot 16-27 from the field, totaled 13 rebounds, five steals, nine assists, and forced 12 turnovers. In the second, they shot 13-17 and added nine rebounds, three steals, and forced nine turnovers.
Anthony Duncan recorded a game-high 24 points, more than doubling his career-high at Coastal Georgia.
Jordon Parks led the Mariners with seven rebounds. He also put up 21 points to aid in the Mariner victory. Both Parks and Elijah Goodman totaled a game-high three assists.
The Mariners will face Southeastern University in their first Sun Conference game of this season. This game will take place on Thursday, November 12th on the road.
