Dalton State moves into top five in NAIA MBB D-I poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — While Georgetown continues to roll with an unblemished record, Lewis-Clark State (Idaho) and Dalton State (Ga.) battled their way into the top five in the fourth edition of the Top 25.

Top 25 Highlights (historical information dates back to 2000)

  • Georgetown received all nine first-place votes.
  • The Tigers are a perfect 21-0 on the year after and lead the nation in scoring margin, outscoring its opponents by over 27 points per game on average.
  • Mid-America Christian (Okla.) stayed in the No. 2 spot for the second consecutive week with a 21-1 record. The Evangels’ lone loss came at the hands of No. 9-ranked John Brown (Ark.) in Siloam Springs, Ark.
  • Dalton State made its return to the top five this week for the first time since March 29, 2017 when the Roadrunners were ranked No. 5.
  • Westmont (Calif.) continued an impressive season and remained at No. 4 this week. The Warriors boast the No. 5-ranked three-point shooting offense in the nation with a 41.1 shooting percentage from behind the arc.
  • Lewis-Clark State rose to the No. 5 spot with a 21-1 record on the year. These Warriors have won 12 in a row heading into a critical conference matchup against Carroll (Mont.) on Friday at home. The lone loss on the year came to Carroll back on December 6.
  • Lewis-Clark State also had the most positive movement of the week, up seven spots from No. 12.
  • Tougaloo (Miss.), William Jessup (Calif.) and Clarke (Iowa) are the three newcomers this week.
  • Former member Mountain State (W.Va.) owns the most No. 1-rankings with 48, followed by Robert Morris (Ill.) (24) and Georgetown (22). LSU Alexandria is next on the list with 16 while former NAIA member Concordia (Calif.) is at 12.
  • Georgetown owns the longest active streak in the Top 25, which is now at 74 consecutive polls.
