LAKE WALES, Fla. – The College of Coastal Georgia Mariners swept the Webber International Warriors 25-16, 25-18, and 27-25 in their final regular-season match.
The College of Coastal Georgia Mariners dominated the Webber International Warriors in the first two sets. In the first set alone, the Warriors recorded nine hitting errors on 31 attempts and hit for -.032. The Mariners hit for .294 in the first set with 13 kills and only three errors on 34 attempts. This trend kept up in the second set, and Coastal Georgia’s aggressive serving carried them over the Warriors.
In the third set, Webber International kept pace with the Mariners even leading the majority of the set. Webber International never got more than three points above the Mariners but they had much more control of the game in set three. The game was tied up 13 times in set three, demonstrating how close the teams were to each other. Coastal Georgia did edge Webber International in kills, 15 to nine however the Mariners made nine errors while Webber only made four.
Giovana Larregui Lopez and Alison Muldrow (SR/Crosby, Tex.) tallied a match-high 11 kills each. Muldrow finished with a .562 hitting percentage.
Larregui Lopez recorded a double-double adding 15 digs to her 11 kills. Kaci Hollenbacher (SR/Fleming Island, Fla. ) finished with eight kills on 12 attempts, hitting for a match and career-high .583.
Gardieliz Laureano-Andujar (SR/Corozal, Puerto Rico) tallied 23 assists a match-high.
Coastal Georgia outscored Webber International in kills, assists, aces, digs, and block solos. The Mariners also had significantly less serve receive errors, serving errors, and blocking errors. The Warriors out-blocked the Mariners with 6.0 total blocks on 12 block assists. Webber also only recorded one ball handling error while Coastal Georgia tallied five.
The Mariners begin postseason play by hosting a Sun Conference tournament match.
